U.S. iPhone Ownership Reaches All-Time High [Chart]

Apple has more iPhone users in the United States than at any point in history thanks to a growth push driven by the iPhone 7, according to the latest comScore report. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus accounted for 15% of the 85.8 million U.S. iPhone owners ages 13-and-older in Q4 2016.

Before the release of the iPhone 7 models in September, the iPhone 6 device family had continued to rapidly expand its footprint. According to comScore MobiLens, there are still nearly 50 million iPhone 6 users, in addition to the more than 20 million iPhone owners who have a 5 model or earlier. These 70 million collectively represent a huge base of users who are ripe for an upgrade cycle later this year when the iPhone 8 is expected to be released.

comScore also notes that the iPhone 8 is expected to be a 'supercycle' which leads to a boom in Apple's install base.

Crap reporting. Actually this chart shows that lesser ppl getting the new iPhone 7. Tim cook better buck up.

Might want to learn how to read the char noob. Dec 2016, about the same % when 6S came out, people don't change their phones as soon as the new version is out

Compare this then: Dec 14 iPhone 6 > 7.9M Dec 16 iPhone 7 > 7.5M
