Apple is preparing to bring Apple Intelligence to the Vision Pro headset as part of an upcoming visionOS 2.4 update, according to a new report from Bloomberg. The update is expected to introduce AI-powered features, a revamped guest user mode, and a spatial content app aimed at enhancing the device's capabilities.
Sources familiar with the matter indicate that visionOS 2.4 could launch as early as April, with a developer beta becoming available as soon as this week. Apple Intelligence will bring features such as Writing Tools, Genmojis, and the Image Playground app to the Vision Pro, marking the first time Apple's AI technology extends beyond the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
The Vision Pro is powered by Apple's M2 chip and 16GB of memory, making it capable of handling on-device AI processing. The expansion of Apple Intelligence comes at a time when competitors like Google are integrating AI into their own mixed-reality platforms. Google recently unveiled Android XR, a new mixed-reality OS featuring deep integration with its Gemini AI platform, with Samsung set to launch a competing headset later this year.
Apple is also adding a new app designed for viewing spatial content, including 3D images and panoramas from external sources. This move aims to generate more interest in the Vision Pro by expanding its media capabilities. While Apple has been slow to roll out dedicated content for the device, the new app is expected to encourage adoption of spatial media.
In addition, visionOS 2.4 will introduce a revamped guest user mode, allowing owners to temporarily share their headset with others. Apple believes this feature will help drive interest in the Vision Pro by making it easier for users to showcase the device to friends and family. Notably, the update will enable guest setup via an iPhone, allowing users to control which apps are accessible during a guest session—a process that previously had to be managed directly on the headset.
Despite Apple's broader AI push, visionOS 2.4 will not introduce significant changes to Siri on the Vision Pro. However, OpenAI's ChatGPT will be integrated into the Writing Tools feature. Bloomberg previously reported that Apple had planned a major AI overhaul for Siri this spring, but the rollout may be delayed due to last-minute engineering challenges.
Apple is also set to release an immersive video experience on February 21 through the TV app for the Vision Pro. The video will feature an arctic surfing expedition, highlighting the headset's spatial media capabilities.
The visionOS 2.4 update comes roughly a year after the Vision Pro's launch, as Apple seeks to drive renewed interest in the $3,500 headset. The company recently canceled plans for augmented reality glasses tethered to a Mac, signaling a shift in its mixed-reality strategy.
