Apple has started rejecting app submissions with pricing information in their title and screenshots, reports VentureBeat.
For years, some developers have put the word 'free' in their app names to try and gain more attention from users browsing the App Store. Previously, developers were discouraged from doing so; however, iTunes Connect is now rejecting submissions.
Here's the error message being presented to developers:
Your app’s name, icons, screenshots, or previews to be displayed on the App Store include references to your app’s price, which is not considered a part of these metadata items.
Please remove any references to your app’s price from your app’s name, including any references to your app being free or discounted. If you would like to advertise changes to your app’s price, it would be appropriate to include this information in the app description. Changes to your app’s price can be made in the Pricing and Availability section of iTunes Connect.
Apple confirmed the change but declined to comment.
Pricing isn't what bothers me. It's the trend to to create 8 bit looking games. If I wanted to play 8 bit looking crap, I would have kept my Atari from the 80s.
It's not reissuing old stuff that bothers me but creating new stuff that looks old.
