Apple has confirmed that Pokemon GO has set an App Store record for the most downloads in its first week, reports The Loop.
With all of the press it’s received in the past couple of weeks, it will come as no surprise that Pokemon Go has been a huge success. In fact, Apple told me today that the game has set a new App Store record with more downloads in its first week than any other app in history. That is impressive.
Additionally, Apple told the site that they have paid out $50 billion thus far to developers. Also notable, people are spending more time in apps. Since Q2 2014, time spent in apps has almost doubled.
Video and music streaming are growth categories in the App Store and when the new subscription model that extends to all categories is rolled out, subscription revenue should increase.
