Apple Prepares Shipment of iPod Touch Pre-Orders

Apple has begun preparing shipments of its fifth-generation iPod touch to customers who pre-ordered the device, according to a MacRumors report.

As of earlier today, some of those early pre-order customers have begun reporting that their order statuses have shifted to "Preparing for Shipment", the final stage before being passed off to delivery companies. At least one customer has reported that his credit card has also been charged.

Some users have also reported the shipping estimates on the Australian Apple Store briefly switched from "October" to "3 weeks" with an expected delivery date of October 29th for new orders. The New Zealand online store is giving November 2nd as the expected delivery date for the new orders.


In addition, Macotakara reports that the official launch for the new iPod touch and iPod nano is scheduled for October 9th in Japan.
