Customers needing a hardware replacement of their white 16GB iPhone 4 may get a free upgrade to the newer iPhone 4S, thanks to supply shortages of that specific model, reports 9to5Mac.
According to multiple sources, Apple has notified Apple Store Genius Bars that inventory of white iPhone 4 16GB replacements units is heavily constrained, and until further notice, stores lacking white iPhone 4 16GB replacements units should upgrade customers seeking a replacement phone to an iPhone 4S.
This iPhone 4S would be a refurbished white iPhone 4S 16GB. This situation will not affect all customers and Apple Stores, but it seems like many white iPhone 4 16GB owners seeking hardware replacements may get Siri, an A5 chip, and an eight megapixel camera out of their next Genius Bar appointment.
It's unclear if supply constraints are affecting regions other than the United States and Canada.
That's how the system works lets say you have a 16gb iPhone 4 they don't have that they have to give you a 32gb iPhone 4 let's say they don't have that than they have to give you a 16gb 4s they don't have that they have to give you a 32 and so on. Happen to me before I had a 3G they didn't have that so I got a 3GS.
