Apple Begins Refunding Upset Final Cut Pro X Customers

Posted June 28, 2011 at 6:03pm by iClarified
Unhappy Final Cut Pro X customers have begun demanding their money back and Apple is reportedly processing refunds despite the 'all sales are final' App Store policy.

Eoshd.com has published a few refund emails from Apple to customers...

"Moving forward, I understand that you are not satisfied with the app "Final Cut Pro". I can certainly appreciate you would like a refund, and I would be more than happy to help you out with this today. In five to seven business days, a credit of £179.99 should be posted to the credit card that appears on the receipt for that purchase.

Please note that this is a one time exception because the iTunes Terms and Conditions state that all sales are final."

Another reads...

"Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding your email, as we have been receiving higher volumes than usual. This is certainly not the customary time for a response and your understanding is greatly appreciated.

I’m sorry to hear that the apps "Compressor" and "Final Cut Pro" you purchased on the Mac App Store is not functioning as expected. I know how special your purchases are and I regret for the inconvenience caused. I will try my best to resolve this issue.

[Name] at your request, I have refunded the apps and in five to seven business days, a credit of $380.08 should be posted to the Visa card that appears on the receipt for that purchase."

Apple's release of Final Cut Pro X has been a major let down for professional video editors who are saying it's so disappointing that 'I want to cry!!'. Apple is promising to quickly restore the missing features; however, some core features such as its trackless design may make it 'literally impossible' for professional use.

You can't have thousands of hits with out a few flops. I am for all purposes an apple fan boy but they really should be refunding money. I grabbed a copy of fcx off the torrents. It is atrocious. They can't expect to change editors( who are a little pissy anyway). The lose of support of industry standards such as EDL and XML was a nail in apple's coffin. From the jump. Maybe the terms and conditions should be further looked at. A blanket no return policy is not appropriate.
