wow... so the concept of iOS5 should be aka code name "android copy cat"? Android already has that drop down window of notifications were you slide from top to bottom and you'll see EVERY notification, widgets (android... nuff said), more advanced settings for applications? (ummm yea android base stock firmware already covers that completely). the thing about making an app a speed dial button... kinda stupid (also have this on the android too but i have no use for it ... BECAUSE... android as SMART T9 calling yeaAAAAA!!!! if you don't know what smart T9 calling is... look it up. ITS REVOLUTIONARY in my book!

Those are really good concepts

All this is already doable on Android. On my home screen I can have widgets, control settings as well as have icon to directly call my favorite person! No wonder Androids are selling much faster than Apple! I agree that it would be nice to see all these in iOS too, but I dont see why making a video about features already existing on another platform makes color monkey cool?

Huh, you know, a few weeks back there were a report showing that there are more iPod touches, iPhones and iPads (iOS devices) than android devices... The reason android is going anywhere is that common people (non-geeks) can buy one as cheap as their old dumb phone.

I already have most of those things on my phone through Cydia. It is nice to see Apple adding these features as well. You can thank Google and Cydia for pushing the level of competition and giving Apple ideas to add to their own iOS

Ok... Feel free to tell me the name of any tweak that comes anywhere close to what is shown in that video. Good luck :)

Figure it out man! Plenty of stuff on Cydia that would do, if not be really close to doing what this video showed. But, will apple copy android with widgets, eh think not

Cydia does has lots of tweaks if you have the right repos installed. Stuff like SB settings is better than having an icon of settings on your homescreen..

SBSettings is better than single icons for each feature. Cydgets, Winterboard themes, Dreamboard themes all have widgets you can add. There's something out there to add contacts to home screen as icons just don't know the name but it's there. Moreover, these jailbreak solutions have been there for over a year (in some cases since 1st iphone). But it's nice if Apple integrates them into the iOS as it'd be smoother. Android does sell a lot but there are multiple phones released each month where apple releases once a year. It's a matter of quantity there. The android phones I've tried aren't as smooth as the iphone but that may be due to the decrease in stock features.

Best iOS5 concept video!

What a great concept! Hopefully somebody on Apple reads/follows iClarified! I guess we'll know for sure Monday Afternoon. iOS sure needs to be refreshed, it's been 4 years with just few changes here and there. PS: before anybody starts bashing my grammar, english it's my second lenguage. Greetings from Venezuela!!

I am pretty sure they follow both these kinds of concept videos as well as the jailbreak community... However, we won't see on Monday if they have seen this video, they can't develop features that quickly ^^

This is the best iOS5 "concept" I have seen. Anyway, that features could be added to iOS4 easily, with a minor update, really, no need for iOS5.

Most likely burn to much battery, hence the android fast burning battery 100-0 in 60 sec!
Leonick
Leonick - June 3, 2011 at 8:53am
Nah, the widgets and notifications aren't what's burning androids devices battery. Might be background apps in part but not really that either. I do know what burns the battery on my mothers device though, 3G data connection, even if it isnt being used the battery won't last a full day, not a whole lot more than 12-14 hours. Turn it of and the battery goes for several days. This is a problem iOS obviously doesn't have so...

Yeah, 3G and 4G murders phone batteries...

Leonick - June 3, 2011 at 2:28pm
Well, that's just it, not the batty on my iPhone, I have my school mail and personal mail being pushed out to my phone as soon as the arrive on the server and 2 calendars updating every 15 min and turning 3G off for a day does no noticeable difference, battery life is great with 3G on or off. If I surf website that will drain battery but android seem to drain as soon as it's active even if it's idle...

So basically you want iOS to be like Android OS and WP7. Interesting. I always thought (heard) Apple had never and would never copy anyone.

Well you thought/heard wrong.

Everybody copies. That is what is great about competition. It opens the door to more innovations that everyone eventually uses

This video is funny bc mostly all this is able to be done with jail breaking and using cydia apps. Lol so how is this some kind of advancement for iOS 5?
AlanLEIMobile
AlanLEIMobile - June 2, 2011 at 9:23pm
Because most Cydia tweaks are not 100% compatable with everything and I, for one, would like these amazing features but without the lag or anything of having them be a MobileSubstrate plug-in. I want to see what Apple does with this and hopefully, they will make something amazing.

You mean, "Magically!" not amazing. . . right? ;)

"truly magical" I don't know how I got "magically". LOL, now the joke isn't funny anymore! sad day.

Most of the stuff in cydia is out of desire from the end user. The widgets is definitely android-esque
Leonick
Leonick - June 3, 2011 at 8:24am
Ehm... There are no even half decent widgets in cydia. There are way to have contacts at the springboard but they will just be links to the contact in the contact app and not as functional as proposed in the video. There is no way to have settings on the springboard in that way, you could get sbsettings but that is pretty far from the video. None of the notifications alternatives works quite like that, MobileNotifier (think that it's name) is closest and development of that basically just stopped. There are multitasking tweaks that do show previews of the apps but none of them present it in such a way and none work with notification twekas that show notifications on the multitask screen...
