Check out this concept for a foldable Mac-iPad from Astro, makers of Luna Display.
Our concept design pushes the Mac and iPad to new boundaries. By enabling touch and Apple Pencil interactions on the display, we’ve created new opportunities for creative workflows that would otherwise be limited by a mouse and keyboard, such as photo retouching or freehand illustration.
The foldable screen could also be opened up and turned horizontally into a larger, flat display. This design offers the flexibility to interact with the display in conventional ways (mouse, keyboard) or with newer workflows (Apple Pencil, touch interactions).
Check out the renders below and let us know what you think in the comments. Astro also shares a solution on how you can achieve somewhat similar functionality using Luna Display, a 12.9-inch iPad Pro and your MacBook at the link below.
Discussing design and a waste of time. This would never work in real life situations. We need a physical keyboard, that’s why it’s predecessors never worked even though they were some cool keyboards that were released. Also, the folders an issue for Samsung, why would Apple adopt the same issue?
If this were a thing, where would all the ports be considering iPad's thinness? What name for a product would this be? Would their be a solid state drive or flash storage? Also, as imaginative as making the tablet act as a laptop and trying to guess where the keys for typing. I don't see that as working especially for games. Plus, no way would the mouse be with sharp edges nevermind reverting back to super bulky (just a thought).
