Saurik has released Cycorder 0.9-4 which is a free application to record video and audio on your iPhone.
Cycorder features real-time video compression and records at the maximum speed of the iPhone camera (6-15 frames per second). There is no delay between pressing stop and getting to view the resulting video.
Whats New: - Audio Channel Recording - Colorized Navigation Buttons - TV Out Supported Playback - No AutoLock When Recording - Minor (REC) Badge Fixes
You can download Cycorder using Cydia Installer App.

Installed and tested. Looks to be capturing nice quality video and sound.
It did lock up my phone for about 30 seconds when I clicked on a ad and then tried to return to Cycorder but it didn't crash.
One big feature missing is an easy way to get the files created off the phone. Perhaps email?

The #1 reason why Cycorder might crash on startup is that /var/mobile/Library is not owned by mobile.mobile for some reason (and therefore Cycorder can't write to it). I almost fixed this in 0.9-5 (in the stupidly simple fashion of having Cycorder just disable anything that needed that folder as it isn't really critical) and then forgot. 0.9-6 will have this fix. It is, however, something you really should fix as a lot of other applications probably don't work either.
As for why you won't ever find Cycorder in the App Store: Apple is very controlling about the software that goes on their devices. The /reason/ we jailbreak our phones is so that we can do the things with them that we want, including install the software that we want. Apple specifically designed a much simpler/braindead set of tools for people to build applications with over the course of building their "SDK" and now carefully scrutinizes incoming programs to verify they don't do anything too awesome.
I /will/ say that, if you want to change their minds, you might poke them about how awesome Cycorder is. I bet if they get a few tens of thousands of requests for it they might change their mind about a few APIs that are keeping programs that record video from getting in (although TV out still wouldn't be allowed, for example, and I doubt they would even be swayed on that one).
In order to give us all better access to these types of applications from larger, more well funded groups, I am working on turning Cydia into a true competitor to the App Store, a place where you won't find just games and simple web utilities, but a place where you can buy amazing software that takes advantage of the true potential of your device: programs like Cycorder or Snapture, IntelliBoard, etc. Keep your eyes glued on Cydia for future updates on this front ;P.
For some reason I can't install this properly on my iPhone 3G 16gb. It keeps on crashing on me. What is going on? Please help. This works well with my previous iPhone 3G 8gb and now it won't work with the 3G 16gb. Please help anyone?
How do I get this on my jailbroke iphone 3g?
I have cydia and Installer 4 installed on the phone, but when I nagivate to featured packages > Cycorder I get this message:
Cannot locate package, the package cycorder cannot be found in your current sources. I might recommend installing more sources.
anyone can help me resolve this issue.
thanks
My iPhone doesn't seem to want to jailbreak, I had to restore to stock Apple 2.0.2 as it wouldn't get past the bootlogo on startup and since then I try and use quyickpwn and winpwn to jailbreak but nothing seems to work. The iPhone just "crashes" halfway through quickpwn.
I want video again :-(
