RODE has announced a Direct Connect feature for its Wireless Micro microphone that enables direct pairing to iPhone via Bluetooth.
With Direct Connect, you can now pair your Wireless Micro transmitters directly to your iOS device via Bluetooth using the RØDE Capture app, eliminating the need for a receiver entirely. This makes capturing crystal-clear wireless audio on your smartphone easier than ever before.
How to Get Started 1. Ensure you have the latest version of the RØDE Capture app installed on your iPhone. You can check this via the App Store. 2. Plug the receiver into your iPhone. Make sure both transmitters are removed from the charging case, powered on, and paired with the receiver. 3. Open RØDE Capture. If a firmware update is available, you'll be prompted to install it. Follow the on-screen instructions. 4. Once the firmware update is complete, unplug the receiver from your phone and place it back into the charging case. 5. Open the audio menu in the top-left corner of the app. Select "Direct Connect to TX" to begin searching for available transmitters. 6. Make sure your transmitter is in pairing mode. You'll know it's ready when the lights begin flashing. 7. Once your transmitter appears in the app, tap to connect. You're now ready to start recording wirelessly without a receiver.
In addition to Direct Connect, this update also introduces a new Noise Reduction feature, designed to help you capture cleaner audio in any environment.
Noise Reduction intelligently targets and reduces continuous ambient noise, like the hum of air conditioners and desk fans, or the drone of distant traffic, delivering clearer, more professional audio straight from your microphone.
You can tailor the effect to your environment: ● Low – for gentle reduction of subtle background noise ● High – for strong noise reduction in busier environments ● Off – when you want the full, unprocessed signal
You can download RØDE Capture from the App Store at the link below. If you don't already have the device, they're on sale today for $133 for a set.
