to re-write what I wrote (in english this time) --- I'm not able to find the location of the custom IPSW when browsing with itunes's open "file locator" window, due to the fact that one of the folders is hidden (and iTune's lile locator can't seem to view hidden folders??) --- I am however able to find it with the regular finder in this location: ---- *homefolder*/Library/Application Support/Seas0nPass/Firmware ----- From here, I copy the file, paste it on my desktop, and then point itunes to my desktop in attempts to JB my pos atv2. ---- I'm running iOS 5.1.1 btw (52xx) firmware, itunes 11.0 and Seas0nPass 0.8.8.

I'm not able to find the location of the file when browsing with itunes's open "finder" do to one of the folders being hidden (not just not appearing through iTunes when manually looking for the file) I am how ever able to find it with the regular finder in this location: *homefolder*/Library/Application Support/Seas0nPass/Firmware from here, I copy the file, paste it on my desktop, and then point itunes to my desktop in attempts to JB my pos atv2 I'm running iOS 5.1.1 btw (52xx) firmware itunes 11.0 and SP 0.8.8

have performed every step as described. Screens report OK Done but ATV2 (4.1.1) does not seem to be JB'd. Cannot access it thru network IP. There is a screen coming up every time I perform the Seasonspass: "iTunes restore script failed selecting IPSW in Finder" but actions are done anyway

The Restore Script seems to have a problem. That's why You have to perform the restore process Yourself. On a Mac hold ALT and click restore in iTunes, then choose the appropriate atv2 IPSW file in Your home directory on the home disc drive... and load it.

I had the same problem. There is an easy fix. Just before SeasonPass failes it will open a finder window where the IPSW file it created is located. In iTunes, hold down the 'alt' button while clicking 'restore'. You will see a file selector popup. Just select the IPSW file created by seasonpass and let iTunes 'restore' using that file. After the restore you can proceed with the tethered booting step.

Hi, I would very much appreciate your help. Where does Seas0npass save the new IPSW file? I have to manually select it on iTunes to do de restore, but I don't know where it is. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! Cheers!

I successfully followed all the steps and saw exactly the screen which showed in the tutorial until the last step, then rebooted with the steps following the tutorials. Then disconnected the Apple TV and connected to my TV. Then, it stuck at the initial loading screen which is APPLE logo, it did not go any further than that. What should I do? Did I successfully jailbreak my device or not? Thank you for any helps.

It's the tethered boot you need to do. If it hangs on the Apple logo, it means you need to boot tethered. If you already did that, run the jailbreak again.., start from the the top. The tethered boot didn't work for me either, the first time, after that.., like a charm. But, your AT2 is jailbroken now.., otherwise it would boot normally...

I had done the "Boot Tethered" from the SeasonOnPass twice after I successfully jailbreak my device. I did receive the successful info said disconnected your device and connect to HDMI. Do you mean I have to start from the beginning of this tutorial and do it again? If I did, it should overrite whatever I had in the apple tv now, I did not get it. Well, just read a post. Could you explain in details how did you get passed it? Do you mean that I just jailbreak the device? then disconnect the device, do not run the "boot tethered" at all?

The whole process.., from the top. I did it step by step and it didn't work.., then I read somewhere else that I had to do it twice. So I did the the whole thing again from the top of the page (including the tethered boot, you have to that every time your AT2 looses power). Then it did work.

I did not connect the power source to the AT2 when I followed the instruction because I connect the AT2 to computer, AT2 get the power from the computer. I guess that I should connect to the wall power when I follow the instruction?

i dont get asked to enable ui scripting at any point either??

big - February 9, 2011 at 4:37pm
I did successfully JB ATV2. ( slander, ignore the enable ui scripting message, that does not matter ). Just keep doing it and I tried more than 10 times. The problem is this JB is tethered JB, so apple tv has to connect to the power source all the time, and even when you did not use apple tv for more than 24 hours, it will auto put into the sleep mode or whatever, did not require any power at all. Then when you use it again, it stuck at the apple logo again. That is sucks. All of the setting was gone, JB was gone. I guess this is a working tutorial but it is not permanent fix for ATV2. Thoughts?

I just can't seem to get my ATV in DFU mode. Anybody else got that problem.., or anybody has a solution for that? Up until the point where it says.., hook it up to USB en enter DFU mode.., it just doesn't see or register the ATV2.., and yes.., I do believe I do everything according to the instructions and I have a microusb (It is, however, a mini-to-micro-usb plug, would that matter?) Thanks...

plug in USB first and wait until the led starts flashing consistently - then plug in power cord and finally hold MENU and PLAY/PAUSE button for 7 secs then it should kick into DFU

El Norte - January 29, 2011 at 4:35am
It was the mini-to-micro usb adapter which caused the problem. I got a dedicated usb-to-micro cable and it went without a hitch. Thanks for the reply. I did have to run through the process twice in order to boot tethered.., but that was ok. XBMC runs perfectly now...

Will this allow me to watch Hulu on ATV? If not, is this possible?

Do any of you know of some good site to check out all the different features and apps you can add to the Apple TV after jailbreaking? I do jailbreak my phone but I haven't seen enough compelling reasons to do my Apple TV. I don't really need it to play different media types since I rip all of my own movies to work with the Apple TV. I need a more compelling reason, I'm just not sure what's out there in the Apple TV jailbreak world.
