Apple Vision Pro 2 Allegedly in Production Ahead of 2025 Launch [Rumor]

A second-generation Vision Pro headset has allegedly entered mass production and could launch before the end of 2025, according to a recent report from IT Home.

The report claims that multiple independent sources have confirmed key components for Vision Pro 2 are already in production. Lens Technology is said to be the exclusive supplier of the glass panels, while Changying Precision provides the outer shell. Other suppliers are purportedly rushing to fulfill orders for electronic circuit components. Apple, as expected, declined to comment on the rumors, sticking to its policy of silence on unreleased products.

Details on Vision Pro 2 are sparse, with timelines varying. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted production will start in late 2025, featuring an M5 chip and Apple Intelligence support; however, other upgrades remain unclear. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman sees no 2025 shipment but allows for an unveiling, with signs pointing to a 2026 release. In January, he noted Apple's focus shifting to a lower-cost headset, now in accelerated development, which Kuo ties to 2027.


The initial Vision Pro arrived in June 2023, hitting international markets in February 2024. Priced at $3,499 (or 29,999 yuan in China), it offers a premium experience with a micro-OLED display boasting 23 million pixels, surpassing 4K resolution per eye. Powered by the M2 chip with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, alongside the R1 chip for real-time sensor processing, the headset weighs between 600 and 650 grams and offers 2.5 hours of 2D video playback.
