Another leak from Digital Chat Station claims to offers more details about Apple's foldable iPhone, focusing on its inner display and Face ID setup.
In a post on Weibo, the leaker alleges the foldable iPhone's inner screen will use under-display camera technology, but it likely won't include 3D Face ID components. This suggests Apple might turn to other security options, like a side-button Touch ID, as some analysts have mentioned before. The leaker also said the next two iPhone generations will stick with punch-hole displays, so under-display Face ID may not arrive on standard models anytime soon.
Apple's foldable display is currently testing under-display camera technology for the inner screen, and it's highly likely that it won't include a 3D facial recognition module. The next two generations of iPhones will still use a punch-hole design.
Earlier posts from Digital Chat Station have pegged the foldable iPhone's inner display at 7.76 inches with a 2713×1920 resolution and the outer screen at 5.49 inches with 2088×1422. The inner screen's 4:3 ratio, noted in a prior leak, seems designed to sync the software experience with iPad apps, keeping things consistent whether the device is folded or open.
The hinge for Apple's foldable iPhone will reportedly use metallic glass. This material, also called amorphous alloy, is said to be 2.5 times stronger than titanium alloy, resisting bends and scratches better. Its glossy look, similar to polished stainless steel, should complement the titanium casing Apple's planning.
Apple's foldable iPhone is expected to hit mass production as early as late 2026, with final specs likely set by mid-2025.
