Ameperx Technology Limited (ATL) has reportedly begun mass production of a larger battery for Apple's next generation iPhone XR.
Thelec.kr claims that the new batteries will have a capacity of 3110mAh which is an increase of more than a 5% from the 2942mAh battery in the iPhone XR. The battery would be the largest among all iPhones using a single battery cell.
Of the flagship duo iPhone XS Max and XS, the former has a slightly larger capacity of 3171mAh. But a key difference is that batteries in both models are actually two conjoined battery cells. The batteries for their successors – also to be revealed in the second half of the year – have not begun to be mass produced yet.
Apple will likely unveil its next generation iPhones at a press even this fall. You can follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for more updates.
While larger batteries are always nice, a measily 5% is unlikely to bring back all those Apple users scared off by reports of $30,000 to $50,000 Mac Pros and the 2019 MacBook Pro, which while NOT throttled, never reaches the advertised speeds for longer than a second or two. In the old days (2017?), the typical user knew that, if they pinched their pennies, they’d get a product that would last under use. Now, though, Apple’s charging unimaginable (in 2017 terms) prices for products which aren’t worth the money.
In short, that milkshake ain’t bringing ANY boys back to the yard. Get ready for another few terrible years, Apple!
