Apple has struck a deal with LG to be the sole supplier of flexible displays for the iWatch, according to Naver. The news corroborates a report from January, which said that Apple had linked up with LG for a flexible, plastic OLED iWatch display. The report also claimed that LG would be the only provider of the 1.52-inch panels.
Back in February, LG said that demand for its displays was high. "There are many requests for plastic OLED from our smartphone (making) clients and the interest in wearable devices are pretty high".
The article also cites sources who 'reconfirmed' that the iWatch will come in two sizes and said Apple is targeting sales of 9 million units.
Earlier this month, KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo predicted the iWatch would ship in Q3 2014 and come in 1.3-inch and 1.5-inch sizes. He estimated shipments of 5.5 million units this year and 30 to 50 million units next year.
