Apple has issued its first statement on iPhone 5 orders, saying it's been 'completely blown away', reports AllThingsD.
"Pre-orders for iPhone 5 have been incredible," Apple spokeswoman Nat Kerris told AllThingsD. "We've been completely blown away by the customer response."
The first batch of iPhone 5 devices were sold out in just one hour after they went on sale at midnight last night. The wait is now two weeks for an iPhone 5 when ordering online.
Desperate shoppers can wait in line at the Apple Store and other retail locations on September 21st for the in-store launch.
Agree with you, but theres no point to say "mine is bigger than yours" hehe, its a free market, and its great theres so many choices in the world of smartphones, buy the one that fits you, fandroids, get the phone u love the most and get on with life hehe
Does anyone know if the iPhone 5 can be used to make and receive phone calls?
Every other place it has information about what all iPhone can do except making and receiving phone calls?
I like the products, but I do also feel as if they blow it out of proportion. The probably only had a few devices available. I was up for launch the store was online for about 5 minutes i placed my order and it said they won't ship for two weeks. my order was placed at 1:45 MST. BS
If y'all hate Apple and all the iProducts so much, why are you wasting your time reading about it! They make great products, that work and are relatively simple [for the most part] to use. Yes they are pricey, but we pay it, and even though we may grumble coming out of the bank, no-one is holding our heads to a gun to purchase them.
Does anyone really think they sold out in 1 hour? They had months. Remember the Wii? Artificially limit supply to increase demand knowing they will still get the $ (and more) in the long run.
I figured this would happen, despite the many naysayers. Basically, anyone who likes iPhones will want one, whether their mobile carriers will cover it or not. As "unimpressive" as it may be, it's going to have record sales, no matter what others say about it.
it is nazi like propaganda to build demand for higher prices on ebay where inside orders will skin thousands of fanboys.
When dollar hits toilet by Sept. 21st the Samsung will win anyway
What a load of crap to say. The Slamdung Garbagity S3 is just as expensive of a phone. When buying a logo... ask yourself which brand you would be proud to carry?
- Over 1 million 4S models were sold in the first 24 hours after its release in October 2011.
- Four million units of the iPhone 4S were sold in the first three days of release.
- According to his calculations in a note to clients issued Friday, Apple sold 1.5 million phones on launch day.
- iPhone 5, soild 2.5 million in one hour.

Never have pre-orders for a new iPhone sold out within one hour. TechCruch notes that the iPhone 4 pre-orders sold out in 20 hours, while the iPhone 4S pre-orders sold out in 22 hours, meaning the iPhone 5 sold out a whopping 20x faster than its predecessors.
