Apple will reportedly hold a media event on September 7th to launch the iPhone 5, according to Japanese site Kodawarisan.
MacRumors confirmed with the site that the date came from a source 'in the know'.
Apple has traditionally held their Fall media events in the first part of September with the past three events taking place on September 1st, 2010, September 9th, 2009, and September 9th, 2008. Last year's event introduced new iPod touch, iPod nano and iPod shuffle models. This year's event, however, has been widely expected to also incorporate the rumored iPhone 5 announcement. We confirmed with Kodawarisan that the date was not the product of guesswork, but came from a source in the know.
Well most rumors have pinpointed the iPhone 5 announcement to September; some sources are adamant that the device will become available in October.
Is it possible, given decline in global iPod & portable music player sales, that Apple is shifting their iPhone timeline to that spot? I've heard a lot about the downward sales figures and all sorts of plausible reasons... And wonder what Apple will do to meet it's historically anticipated revenue expectations. This, the shift of what i guess is a proven market & product, seem to foot the bill.
