Pixelmator Pro and Photomator Get 5x More Precise Auto Straighten
Posted August 20, 2024 at 2:54pm by iClarified
Pixelmator Pro and Photomator have been updated with a significantly more precise Auto Straighten feature.
This powerful enhancement allows you to straighten photos with a single click, saving you time and effort, especially when editing large batches of images. Whether you're a professional photographer or a casual user, we believe you'll find the improved Auto Straighten tool essential in your photo editing workflows.
To develop the Auto Straighten feature, Pixelmator trained a machine learning model based on the EfficientNet architecture. Instead of searching for shapes like lines, the model considers the entire image when determining the horizon. It was trained on images depicting complex scenarios where the horizon is not easily identifiable as a straight line, as well as those taken in dark settings. This approach enables the tool to straighten photos with clear horizons and those with more complex compositions, such as images featuring mountains, trees, and other elements.
To deal with even tougher scenarios, Pixelmator also trained the model using photos with varying noise levels and high compression. This enhances the tool's versatility, enabling it to effectively straighten noisy and compressed images. As a result, Auto Straighten now delivers consistent results even with lower-quality photos.
What's New In This Version:
Pixelmator Pro 3.6.7 introduces a 5x more precise Auto Straighten feature, and includes several other improvements and fixes.
Auto Straighten
• The Auto Straighten algorithm has been completely redesigned, now offering 5x more precision, particularly in images with unclear horizons and low-quality images.
Other Improvements and Fixes
• RAW files from Nikon Z 8 cameras are now supported in DX-format, as well as in 1:1 and 16:9 crop modes.
• Improved stability when working with SVG and PSD documents.
• When exporting text with inside or outside strokes to SVG or PDF, the strokes would not be displayed correctly in the exported file. Fixed.
• Sometimes, when working with RAW files from certain Olympus cameras, the app would quit unexpectedly. Fixed.
You can purchase Pixelmator Pro from the App Store for $49.99.
