Apple has released iOS 17.5.1 and iPadOS 17.5.1 to fix an issue that could cause deleted photos to reappear.
This update provides important bug fixes and addresses a rare issue where photos that experienced database corruption could reappear in the Photos library even if they were deleted.
Apple has yet to explain how deleted photos were able to resurface. Some users claim that images deleted years ago reappeared as recently uploaded, following the update to iOS 17.5. This situation has led to accusations that Apple is not deleting photos when asked, which would be a significant breach of consumer trust.
