The Walt Disney Company has announced significant price hikes for both Disney+ and Hulu that will take effect later this year.
The price of Disney+ is going up from $7.99/month to $10.99/month, starting December 8th. This will coincide with the launch of a new ad-supported tier that will come in at $7.99/month, previously the price of the ad-free tier.
Hulu's ad-free subscription price is increasing from $12.99/month to $14.99/month and the ad-supported subscription price is going up from $6.99/month to $7.99/month, effective October 10th.
As announced earlier, Disney is also increasing the price of ESPN+ from $6.99/month to $9.99/month, effective August 23.
“With our new ad-supported Disney+ offering and an expanded lineup of plans across our entire streaming portfolio, we will be providing greater consumer choice at a variety of price points to cater to the diverse needs of our viewers and appeal to an even broader audience,” said Kareem Daniel, Chairman, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution. “Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ feature unparalleled content and viewing experiences and offer the best value in streaming today, with over 100,000 movie titles, TV episodes, original shows, sports, and live events collectively.”
