Samsung's New Galaxy S25 Edge Takes Aim at 'iPhone 17 Air' [Video]

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, a new ultra-thin smartphone expected to compete directly with Apple's rumored iPhone 17 Air. Billed as an "engineering marvel," the S25 Edge focuses on sleek design, pro-level performance, and enhanced Galaxy AI features.

The device features a titanium body just 5.8mm thick and weighing 163 grams, positioning it squarely in the ultra-slim category. Apple's iPhone 17 Air is predicted to measure 5.65mm thick and include a titanium casing as well. Samsung says the S25 Edge incorporates "optimally curved edges" and uses Corning's new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the front.




A 200MP wide-angle camera leads the imaging system, with Samsung claiming up to 40% improved low-light brightness compared to the standard Galaxy S25. It's joined by a 12MP ultra-wide sensor with autofocus, along with the upgraded ProVisual Engine and AI-powered editing features like Audio Eraser and Drawing Assist.

Under the hood, the phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy with on-device AI processing. A redesigned vapor chamber—thinner but wider—is used to improve thermal performance. Samsung also touts its ProScaler AI upscaling, with image quality said to be 40% better than the S24 series, and its mobile Digital Natural Image engine (mDNIe). Galaxy AI will integrate Google's Gemini, the same platform Apple is reportedly evaluating for iOS 19.



The S25 Edge includes a 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It offers 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB. A 3,900mAh battery supports fast wired charging (up to 55% in 30 minutes with a 25W adapter, sold separately), as well as Fast Wireless Charging and Wireless PowerShare.


Launching with Android 15 and One UI 7, the Galaxy S25 Edge carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. It is available to order in Titanium Silver, Titanium Jetblack, and Titanium Icyblue starting at $1099.99. For a limited time, Samsung is offering a free upgrade to 512GB of storage, a savings of $120.
