Ecobee to Expand Into Smart Home Security Cameras?

Ecobee is planning an expansion into Smart Home security cameras, according to ZatzNotFunny. The company is purportedly working on an indoor camera to add to its growing lineup of products.

We can assume the ecobee camera will feature Alexa integration … if not outright control via its own mic, as those amber lights pictured in the company render up top can also flash blue. (For reference, here’s how the ecobee Switch+ handles lighting cues.) Further, I’d hope beyond typical video recording duties, this unit also acts a presence sensor for ecobee thermostats – bonus if it includes room temp and humidity capabilities.

Ecobee products such as the ecobee3 lite and ecobee4 thermostat offer HomeKit support but it's unclear if the new security camera will as well. No word yet on pricing or availability either.
