Apple may have abandoned its previously announced but unreleased AirPower wireless charger. The charger was touted as being able to simultaneously charge up to three devices.
We were expected to company to give us a release date for the long delayed charging mat; however, Apple did not even mention it during the keynote today. Additionally, the updated Apple.com website appears to have removed nearly all references to the device.
Daring Fireball's John Gruber believes the project may have been scrapped. He tweets, "AirPower must be well and truly fucked. No one at Apple will say a word about it, even off the record. And as a result they didn’t even mention inductive charging during the event, even though the XS and XR both charge faster than the X."
We're still uncertain what the max wireless charging speed of the iPhone XS is. Make sure to follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.
