Check out these renders of a cheaper iPhone Xc concept created by Martin Hajek for iDropNews. To reduce costs, the phone features a polycarbonate display and an LCD display.
While a polycarbonate case might seem like a step backward from the iPhone 8’s and iPhone X’s glass construction, it could actually solve one of the primary criticisms of Apple’s newest iPhones: durability. A polycarbonate case would be less prone to cracking, and could be replaced more inexpensively than a glass back. Additionally, an iPhone Xc could still support wireless charging — unlike the metal-backed LCD iPhone rumored for 2018.
Take a look at the renders below and let us know what you think in the comments! Would you purchase the 'iPhone Xc'?
Wouldn’t work. The notch on here is smaller than the one on the iPhone X. It’s just scaled down. But Apple said it was a feat in itself to get all the sensor tech as small as it is allready. You couldn’t have a notch that small without removing Face ID etc.
Martin is a talented designer, but after I've had some weeks with my iPhone X all I can add is: HELL NO!!! The premium feeling it gives, so goddamn beautiful phone and it's a huge step back.
Of course there could be a cheaper version. This looks good to me. In 5 years the X will have depreciated to pennies. People who are obsessed with the current phone are blind to the fact that everything becomes obsolete eventually. And faster than ever in this day in age.
Me too. The X is nice but honestly it's pretty heavy and just a touch too large in my opinion. I also don't like the glass back - prefer the anodized aluminum. The iPhone 7s is best for size, price and performance to me. Of the iPhone SE which is great if you want smaller but still good performance.
They should make one like this on a larger size too than the actual tiny iPhone X for people with different needs. Definitively priced well below $1k though.
Considering how the 5c did okay and tried to make iPhone affordable, it makes sense with this, besides I owned a 5c once and it holds up well when dropped and looks as if it hides those scratches pretty well.
The 5c that was a "failure" outsold the s4 and for a good reason. Excuses don't mean it's bad, but considering it was the second most sold phone behind the 5s, it probably shows the condition s4 was in.
The 5c was a failure. It’s only real market was to pre-teens and the prepaid market. It never really sold or had a good resale value like the 5 or 5s. A better idea would be to release the X with an aluminum spine and market the stainless version with an upgraded camera and extra RAM. Personally I hope Apple does away with the LCD phones(except the SE) and makes a regular size phone and a plus with OLED. OLED is a better screen and the wave of the future.
