LG Display says it has not finalized a deal to supply Apple with OLED panels for the iPhone X, reports the Korea Herald.
A local media outlet recently reported that LG Display had signed a deal with Apple and was setting up production equipment for the iPhone X on its Paju E6 assembly line. Production to supply 60 million OLED panels was said to start in June.
After a request for clarification from the Korea Exchange, LG filed the following statement.
“Regarding the OLED supply deal for Apple’s iPhone X, nothing has been set in detail. When anything is confirmed in detail, we will announce it, or (otherwise an announcement will be made) in a month.”
Currently, Samsung Display is the only supplier of OLED panels for the iPhone X. However, LG has announced a $13.7 billion investment in OLED panel production over the next three years. Over $9 billion of that is set aside for smartphones panels.
