Samsung Smart Windshield Concept Connects With Your Smartphone [Video]

Posted March 28, 2016 at 4:55am by iClarified
Samsung has unveiled a new concept for a Smart Windshield that connects with your smartphone.

"Samsung presents the Smart Windshield. The first technological windshield that connects with your smartphone so you can keep both hands on the handle bar. Thanks to its innovative technology, a dedicated app, and a Wi-Fi connection, the windshield has been transformed into a safety device.

Samsung Smart Windshield enables you to visualize the GPS navigator so you always know where to go, or who's calling, so you can decide if you want to stop and answer, or send an automatic message to explain you're on the road. You can also see who's texting or emailing and receive many other notifications as well. From now on, to check your smartphone while out riding you only need to look ahead."

The technology behind the Smart Windshield is available today and as vehicles begin to integrate with tech at a deeper level, we could see features of this type becoming more common.

As Apple CarPlay and Android Auto begin to gain traction, it will be interesting to see if companies like Samsung and Apple are able to convince car manufacturers to make more extensive use of their software.

Take a look at the video below...

I would prefer a helmet with digital display in the visor than on the motorcycle handle bar. I thought the display is from the windshield itself. I would like to see a HUD display in a car windshield, the same used in fighter jets.

How To Seal Sound In Your Car With Soundscreen Glass There is a special kind of auto glass that seals sound inside the car, read about it below. Do We Install Soundscreen Windshields? Many people know what they want in a windshield, and will ask about specific glass manufacturers, like Carlite. We are often asked if we can provide Carlite soundscreen glass. The short answer is yes. What Is Carlite Soundscreen Glass? Soundscreen glass and glass with acoustic interlayer are designed to enhance the sound of stereo systems in vehicles. The glass helps greatly reduce sound transmission from inside the car to the outside of the car. The Ford Motor Company recommends Carlite glass above all other soundscreen glass manufacturers and it can be installed in windshields, side windows, backlights, sunroofs and moonroofs.

I honestly doubt it's daytime performance is good enough to display brightly or crisply, or they would have shown us nice bright photos of the device in action while riding down a road during a bright sunny day. I can show you that with my Garmin. I have the Garmin GPS built for my motorcycle and, after using it for tens of thousands of Kilometres I would never switch away. Its is very bright during the daytime and it ties seamlessly to my cell phone, it overlays weather reports onto the GPS display on the same screen. It talks to me telling when to turn or that places of interest are coming up. Even my speedometer shows up on the Garmin device. This "windshield" would have to be very very good to replace this. What more, I can put My Garmin in my pocket when I park my motorcycle. Even when walking around I am connected.

Wow...how did anyone get along without this gadget? I agree with the idea that it should turn ur phone onto airplane mode....of course it would do it wirelessly.

How about this: turn your phone to airplane mode and drive without interruption? How's that for a no cost solution?

Except for being built-in and for motorbikes instead of automobiles, this is like the Garmin accessory. That accessory (forgot the name offhand) connects to the Garmin wirelessly to display information as a projection on the windshield. All other listed functions are already part of Apple CarPlay and the Samsung equivalent.
