Apple to Stop iPhone 5c Production in 2015?

Posted November 26, 2014 at 5:07pm by iClarified
A new report from Taiwan's Industrial and Commercial Times says that Apple will discontinue the iPhone 5c next year, notes MacRumors.

Production of the handset is said to be stopping in the middle of the year, as Apple suppliers Wistron and Foxconn will look to wind down production of the device.

Notably, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently predicted that Apple will eventually discontinue the iPhone 5c and iPhone 4S models to streamline its product offerings. Apple is also expected to unveil new 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch devices next year moving the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to mid-tier offerings and the iPhone 5s to the bottom of its lineup. Along with iPad updates, that would give Apple an all Touch ID-equipped lineup, helping its Apple Pay initiative.

Will you be sorry to see the colorful iPhone 5c go? Should Apple introduce a new device with more color options? Let us know what you think in the comments!

they should actually stop iPad Mini 1st generation rather than this. tried out the display demo one with iOS 8.1, and it lags far worse than laggy Android tablets.

It's a great entry level device, durable and easy to service and repair. Surprised they never offered a black one like the 3G / 3GS of yor.

I often wondered why they didn't make a black one and I realised it was probably because the target market was the younger people. If they produced a black one, that could potentially be purchased by those people who otherwise would have purchased the more expensive 5s.

They should definitely discontinue it. I thought they had already, so I'm more surprised that they still make them.

Doesn't make sense. It deserved to be made so people would spend less for a new iphone just for once. My friends still owns one to this day.

I agree with the article - in order to earn popularity, they need colours like an orange, black, purple, etc. I would've bought one of it was black. Instead I waited

Who gives, it still outpaced the 5 anyway. They only made it so people can have a cheap iphone for one and not buy a case for colors.
