Samsung Introduces New Galaxy Note Edge Smartphone With Curved Edge Screen [Photos]

Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Note Edge, a new smartphone that features a curved edge screen.

Samsung’s relentless pursuit of the best in innovation through the optimization of mobile technology and the user experience has led to the debut of the innovative and unique Galaxy Note Edge. Taking the Galaxy Note experience to the next level, the Note Edge provides users with a new way to access information, engage with their mobile device, and express their personality and tastes. The Galaxy Note Edge’s unique curved Edge screen provides quick access to frequently used apps, alerts and device functionality – even when the cover is closed – all with the swipe of a thumb. Users can also receive notifications directly on the Edge Screen while watching videos without disturbing their viewing.

The Samsung Galaxy Edge appears to draw from a patent we posted on last November that details a Galaxy smartphone with a three-sided display that wraps around the edges of the device.

Galaxy Note Edge will be available in “Charcoal Black” and “Frost White” in select markets through Samsung’s retail channels, e-commerce and carriers later this year. We'll post a video walkthrough of the device once available.

both samsung and Apple are bringing new devices and technology to the market or us why not just appreciate that.

Judging from thickness, they bragged about how much difference it barely makes yet it's bulky again, and beyond that, it has the 60s styled tv like it once was. How much more backwards can it get?

Ahhhhh samsung. It's another piece of plastic sh*t. I knew when I had my s2, switching from an iPhone was a bad move. Samsung still uses sub-par materials such as plastic hah

Now that's what we call innovation and something really new. Unlike iPorn6 4.7 copied from S5 and 5.5 copied from Galaxy note3. Now Crapple having something new to copy in iPorn 7. Now Crapple is gonna copy this and Sheeps would say " there is no problem in copying as long as we make it better". Hahaha.

It's about time that someone came out with a phone with rounded edges. There have been too many people who have lost their hands due to the square edges on all other phones. (͡° ͜ʖ°)

While this may be technologically interesting, I just don't see the advantage of having that curved display. Final verdict: gimmicky.
