Only the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Will Get 128GB of Storage?

Posted June 26, 2014 at 5:03am by iClarified
Earlier today it was reported that Apple would be launching the iPhone 6 September 19 in 32 and 64gb variants, and the 16gb model would presumably be dropped. However many wondered if Apple would release a 128GB version of the iPhone as a new capacity. Now chinese news site Wei Feng is claiming that a 128GB version will indeed be launching, however it will be limited to the 5.5-inch model.

The site says that offering a 128GB version that is exclusive to the 5.5-inch iPhone will give customers the true "phablet" experience allowing them to store many files, documents and data. That means that the 4.7-inch model would only launch with two storage tiers -- 32GB and 64GB. Currently Apple only offers 128GB of storage for iPads and only 64GB for iPhones/iPod Touches.

Apple's next generation iPhone launch is shaping up to be an exciting one as the company is rumored to launch two iPhones with larger screens (4.7-inch and 5.5-inch). The device is rumored to feature a 1704 x 960 resolution display bringing a higher pixel density, as well as an A8 processor, an improved camera, NFC, optical image stabilization 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and an all new design with rounded corners with a relocated sleep/wake button.

All very cool I'm sure but if there isn't a significant and obviously LARGE improvement to the battery then I'm not as excited.

I'll get the larger one as long as it can still fit in my pocket. That's really the only limitation on size. I suspect that it will since even the Galaxy fits with room to spare( I tried one just to see how it fits the pocket).

Not like anyone's going to buy 128gb. People are too cheap. Working in a phone store, I can tell you 80% of the iPhones brought in are 16gb, whether it's 4/4s/5/5s/5c.

I would. I always buy the top model of any device with all the maximum specs. For example..iPhone 5s 64 gig, iPad mini 128 gig, MacBook Air 2011 model with the maximum specs tat were available at the time.

Tell that to users who asked for it, besides it's what many want.

I hope the phablet version has dual sim capability. I am tired of lugging around two phones.

Best news about the 6 I've heard so far and the only spec I really cared about at all, 64gb is ok but too little space and I usually find myself deleting more than I am putting into my 5S. I was, however, leaning more towards the 4.7" 6, but if 5.5" is the only 128gb model then I guess that's what I'll get

It sounds like too many features are going to be limited to the 5.5 inch model. This is not consistent with the features on the different sizes of iPads, which have identical features only differing in size. That is as it should be.
