Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo, is focused on building a viable mobile search engine and monetization platform and getting Apple to use Yahoo as its default search engine, according to Re/code. Currently, Google is the default search engine on Apple's mobile devices; however, you can choose to switch to Yahoo if you so desire.
A number of Yahoo insiders I have talked to said her plan to pitch Apple on the idea as its marquee mobile search partner is far along. The company has prepared detailed decks, including images of what such a search product would look like, and hopes to present them to Apple execs. That has not happened as yet officially and no deal is imminent — it’s just the big honking goal of the new Yahoo effort, said sources.
“This is the aim of the whole effort here, to grab the pole position in iOS search,” said one person working on the effort. “It will take more than pretty pictures, though, to convince Apple to give up Google, given its focus on consumer experience being top-notch. But Marissa wants it very badly.”
Mayer has reportedly approached a few Apple executives on the topic, including SVP of Design Jonathan Ive, who knows her well. She's also launched two under-the-radar initiatives called 'Fast Break' and 'Curveball' to get the company back into algorithmic search and search advertising.
Yahoo is said to be looking for ways it can accelerate the end of its longterm search partnership with Microsoft.
Isn't she the women that put a daycare next to her office then made all the moms working there to report to work? No more working from home. O ya she has my vote. hello Google.
Safari and chrome are good at speed, but I tried chrome and it started slowing down just like ie, plus not much detailed like safari. What I would love to see though is apple have its own search tool and use pictures to find where it was used (not like google image), like for example, you drag a picture from the disk and use it to search and it will tell exactly the link of it. They could make this others haven't done yet.
ill tell you why they want to do this . the nsa traps peoples ip and weird stuff over yahoo , the fovernment has made a deal with google over crap involving big brother since the discovery of the nsa project dropout jeep where nsa can take full control of any iphone and that its been around for 10 years apple claims it had no idea so now they want this default yahoo thing so thier prying is easier people should know yahoo is the nsa fav website for prying on people its totally unsecure load up peerblock then try to navigate to yahoo.com and watch the peerblock go crazy
So if what you're saying is true then the same goes for Bing. Since bing actually powers yahoo search. The way I look at it no matter what we use we're being tracked. It's the sign of the times. It's only going to get worse I guess. But if you got nothing to hide them what do you have to worry about right?
