These are instructions on how to perform a tethered jailbreak of your iPhone 4 on iOS 6.1.3.
A tethered jailbreak means you will need to connect your device to the computer each time you reboot. If you are on iOS 6.0 through iOS 6.1.2, please do not update. Rather use the iClarified Jailbreak Wizard to find instructions on performing an untethered jailbreak with Evasi0n.
Step One Create a folder on your desktop called Pwnage
Download the latest version of RedSn0w from here and place it in the Pwnage folder. Likewise, download the 6.0 firmware and 6.1.3 firmware for your device from here and place it in the Pwnage folder.
Extract the RedSn0w zip file by double clicking it.
Step Two: If you haven't already updated to iOS 6.1.3 then open iTunes from your dock.
Select your iPhone from the list of devices on the left. Now hold down Option and click the Restore button. Restore is preferred as it won't create any wasted space on your iPhone.
Navigate to the Pwnage folder on your desktop and select the 6.1.3 firmware ipsw. Click the Choose button to continue.
iTunes will now update your iPhone to the new firmware.
**Important: If you want to keep your UltraSn0w unlock then follow these instructions to update.
Step Three Right click or control-click the redsn0w application from the redsn0w folder we extracted earlier and choose Open from the popup menu that appears.
Step Four Once RedSn0w opens click the Extras button.
Step Five From the Extras menu click the Select IPSW button.
Step Six Navigate to the Pwnage folder on your desktop and select the iOS 6.0 IPSW then click Open.
Step Seven You'll be informed that the iOS 6.0 IPSW will be used for the rest of the session. Click OK.
Step Eight Click the Back button and then click the Jailbreak button from the main menu.
Step Nine RedSn0w will now prepare the jailbreak data.
Step Ten Ensure Install Cydia is selected from the options menu then click Next.
Step Eleven Turn OFF your device then click the Next button
Step Twelve RedSn0w will now guide you through the steps to get into DFU mode. You can find more help with DFU mode here.
Hold down both the Home button and the Power button for 10 seconds.
Release the Power button and continue holding the Home button until RedSn0w detects the device.
Step Thirteen Your iPhone will now be exploited with limera1n.
Step Fourteen RedSn0w will now reboot your device.
Step Fifteen RedSn0w will upload a new RAM Disk and Kernel.
Step Eleven Once this is complete you will be notified that RedSn0w is done and that this is a tethered jailbreak.
BOOT TETHERED Once you have jailbroken you will need to rerun redsn0w to boot tethered.
Step One From the main RedSn0w menu click the Extras button.
Step Two Choose Select IPSW from the Extras menu and select the iOS 6.0 IPSW. Next, choose Just boot from the menu and follow the instructions to put your device into DFU mode again for boot.

why does it not boot after i do everything right.. all i can see is the pineapple logo and it hasn't changed yet and its been like 2 mins now?? plz answer quickly.
If you reboot the tethered-jailbreak phone, is it still functional as an un-jailbroken phone after the reboot but you have lost the jailbreak programs and functions?
Or if you reboot does the phone become a brick?
I just finished jailbreaking and i have the little pineapple on my screen of my iPhone 4 how long does it usually stay on there cuz its been there a few minutes
Hold down both the home and power button at the same time for 15 to 20 seconds, basically doing a hard reboot. Always works for me, let me know if its the same for you.
I tried to do this with an iPhone 4S and I was at the point in the process where you had to hold down all the buttons and then RedSn0w said it wasn't supported or something and now my phone won't turn on. I plugged it into iTunes again and now it's in recovery mode - this completely screwed up my phone.
Great news guys! If you iPhone is locked by AT&T and you bought it 2 years ago it can be Factory Unlocked now! Just contact AT&T from the following link: https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/client/en_US/termsAndCondition
I did it and it is free and fast! Forget about Ultrasnow/Gevey and preserving your baseband, this is the real jailbreak, haha!
It's probably time for me to just buy a new phone but I wanted to try and resurrect my 3Gs one more time! My power on/off button does not work anymore... Is there any way that I can do this without turning off my phone for DFU mode?
Appreciate any help, thanks.
hi - i have been trying to do this jailbreak and keep getting eth same message - missing keys.....
help !!! what do i do its doing my head in !! am following the process exactly ( well think i am ) but still teh same thing !! arrrrggghhhhhhhh
This is how to fix this: Once you jailbreak your iPhone you have to select the IPSW 6.0 again with redsn0w before you boot thether (if not redsnow is trying to Just Boot 6.1.3 and make that error).
If I run this Jailbreak on my Iphone 4.. 6.1.3.. Will it delete all my messages, contacts?
I've backed up my voice memos, apps and pictures... but will running this jailbreak delete absolute everything?
