Apple to Launch iPhone 5S World Phone and Lower Cost iPhone in August?

A new report from EMSOne predicts that Apple will launch an iPhone 5S world phone and a lower cost iPhone in August of this year.

AppleInsider relays the Chinese report:

Unlike the current iPhone 5, which requires different models for separate carriers with unique LTE frequencies, the so-called "iPhone 5S" is expected to be a world phone that will add compatibility with new carriers, including China Mobile.

As for the cheaper iPhone, Friday's report claimed it will not be a world phone, and will only support the frequency division duplex (FDD) flavor of LTE. China Mobile's network uses time division duplexing (TDD) for its LTE network.

Although it's widely expected that Apple will release an iPhone 5S this year, it's still unclear if or when the company will release a lower cost device for emerging markets or a larger device to compete against the huge Android phones flooding the market.

i have just dumped my nexus 4 due to the screen size tbh all the new phones @ 5 inch & 4.7 inch are not pocket friendly & i don't feel safe with android apps being so open source. i have had the iphone 3gs then went to iphone 4 then decided to try android as itunes software was getting to be annoying as android allowed me to drag & drop my music & apps how ever 18 months on i don't trust android for security & the unreliable updates causing basic apps like my plantronics headset to fail. another reason is th build quality of apple iphones so i think with that as the main reason i have decided i can live with using itunes. perhaps apple should try a survey for what customers want but the numbers would have to represent the survey out come like a few million respond not your die hard kid who wants a big screen & games etc tbh a smart phone should be smart in what the label says ie text message features,WIFI speed,bluetooth file transfer as for facebook or other social media sites leave those on the app store let users build there own smart phone OS.

the lower cost iphone is the previous generation iphones. duh. How is that not understood? Why would there need to be a new low cost iphone? It would just cannibalize old gen sales.

Why would Apple release a larger screen iPhone over the current 4inch? The idea is for a phone to be small enough to fit into your pocket. If you want a bigger screen get an iPad mini.

This is a very lame question. The trend (from the 90's through 2011) was to get phones as small as possible. If you ever saw Zoolander use his cell phone you will realize that we've gone too far with this idea and sales will be stagnant. The new trend (so get with the program) is to increase screen size. What for? For larger battery life, faster processors, better cameras, relieve eye strain, better typing, etc. etc. The iPhone 5S will be a failure. Apple is on a down slide. I'm jumping to the Galaxy S IV as soon as it comes out...unless the iPhone 5S will have a wider screen.

Apple merely needs to add Cellular Telephone services to iPadMini, then they have the biggest sweetest coolest sexiest Phone yet. Or buy a portable hot spot, and carry iPad Mini use Viber and you have all you need - sort of ahh forget the OR portion - come on Apple

and then EVERYONE will say too little too late. BUT not if APPLE just turns its iPAD MINI into a phone. Beating the NOTE and S4 in size - speed - apps - security and thinnest.

iPhone5s will be 8 inches, ipad mini battery life but won't fit in pocket. Will you buy it?
