Planetbeing Updates Failbreak With Kernel Exploit

Posted October 19, 2012 at 12:18am by iClarified
Planetbeing of the iPhone Dev-Team has updated the failbreak for the iPhone 5 with a kernel exploit.

Upgraded the #failbreak with a kernel exploit so tweaks actually work on iPhone 5. :D Almost a full tethered JB, though need dev account.

Last month, chpwn revealed that his jailbreak for the iPhone 5 would be reserved as a failbreak. That means it will be limited to jailbreak developers and won't be released to the public.

Planetbeing explains why a failbreak is necessary:

These exploits are valuable for discovering new ones in the future, so it's nice to keep them and release only the good ones.

iPhone iPad and iPod touch have had there fair problems be it not viruses and such bust mostly hardware issues, am I really the only one to remember the iPhone 4 and the antenna issues or the iPad 3 with over heating and super fast battery dishcharge and the iPod 5 well let's just say I'm less than impresses scuffs dodgy headphone jacks... The iPhone 5 is but a minor upgrade which why I shall not purchase it. Having said that the stability and power on the device IN MY OPINION is the best android is equivalent to standard glasses and I devices equivalent to designer the hefty price DOES NOT justify the closed features but lets face it people, we all not that's what apple is yet millions are sold and preorderd more than any android

Android is garbage. I would rather spend the time and money waiting for the iPhone and it's jailbreak than to find myself crawling for an Android. Don't get me wrong...it's a pain in the ass to wait/jailbreak an iPhone, but once it's jailbroken, the capability for customization surpasses the Android by a lot.

there is no way you can customize an iphone that has been jailbroken MORE then an android - you can flash completely custom firmware on android devices, the iphone being jailbroken allows to you tweak apple's firmware - just making a subjective statement. each has its pro's and con's.

Pity I can do it all on an Android without having to wait for a jailbreak every time a software update is released.

Nah bro, I'm fine with it, it's rare to get a virus anyway, I've been on android and iOS for the past 3-4 years, using both platforms, and their both great, but I've never ever encountered a virus or anything of the sort on my android, and my battery life is great.

Im glad to hear that your experience with Android is going well. But the fact is that only 70% of threats/viruses get detected. And dont think the virus as stealing your credit card numbers. It could be variety things. Such as sniff your contact info and sell those to advertisement or spam company. Spam calls, emails, and sms grew by huge numbers after the smartphones released. You think I'm joking? I'm an entry-level software engineer and I can easily write rootkit script without getting detected from anti-virus on android phones. Anyway dont get me wrong here. I'm not trying to argue or anything. Just trying to make sure everyone knows. The moment you think you are safe, you are more vulnerable to anything.

Ok people clam down! Both devices are good . It is come to personal choice. I fix iPhones and iPads as hobby. Started since prior the release of the 3G So I can tear down 3GS or iPhone 4 with my eyes close. But last 2 months I started fixing galaxy S2, NOTE and tablet 10.1. And I think they are not bad. Each platform has its own advantages. I am sure android might have more potential risk for virus than iOS. But it is the same argument windows vs Mac. Remember last large amount of infected macs? How many of us have antivirus on Mac iPhone or iPad? I am guessing not many. So how do we know if hackers are not creating anything for those machine, maybe the jailbreak has a virus ?who knows right?. I am not software writer, but yes I do use jailbreak. But as user of a cellphone, check emails, watch movies, Facebook, tweeter and surf the net. Both platform can do the job.

The fixing part wasn't needed in this argument. Jailbreaking has a virus? Surprisingly there wasn't one since iOS 1.0. The iPhone hasn't had a virus... ever. Well, except for one, but people it was rare for someone to get it when they didn't know about the URL. It was fixed and 0.01% probably got it

I know J ..how you feel not to have a jailbreak for your Iphone5. I am in the same position.I m currently using an IPhone 4S 5.1.1 jailbroken. But I am ready for an Iphone 5..I would not buy it until the jailbreak is available for it. Just little patience we will eventually have it..

I would think that you should get it asap or else later devices being sold will have already been loaded with the latest firmware?

If a jailbreak comes out and you decide to then buy the iphone...as long as you buy it within a reasonable time but most likely you will be getting an unopened iphone 5 package, if you go to the apple store...now whats a reasonable time? well it doesnt take apple to find the exploits as long as the dev teams to discover them seeing that all they have to do is jailbreak a phone and see exactlywhat it is exploiting. but these changes being made to the iOS in updates have to be made stable releases and checked and rechecked before sent out as an update. When you buy a phone from the apple store they cannot update the phone for you once you purchase the phone it is your phone your property to do whatever you please.
