These are instructions on how to re-restore your iPhone from iOS 5.x to iOS 5.x. This procedure will work for any A5+ device so long as you have the SHSH Blobs saved for the firmware you are currently on and the firmware you would like to restore to.
Important***: You DO NOT QUALIFY for iOS5-to-iOS5 restores if you got to your current 5.x via an OTA (Over-the-Air) update.
Step One Create a folder on your desktop called Pwnage
Download the latest version of RedSn0w from here and place it in the Pwnage folder. Likewise, download the firmware you would like to restore to and the firmware you are current on from here and place it/them in the Pwnage folder.
Extract the RedSn0w zip file by double clicking it.
Step Two Right click or control-click the redsn0w application from the redsn0w folder we extracted earlier and choose Open from the popup menu that appears.
Step Three Click Extras from the main menu.
Step Four Click Even More from the Extras menu.
Step Five Click Restore from the Even More menu.
Step Six Click IPSW from the Restore menu, choose the IPSW you would like to restore to from the window that appears, and click Open.
Step Seven Redsn0w will prompt you to connect your device. Do so, then click the Ok button.
Step Eight If you need to point RedSn0w to another firmware ipsw it will ask you to do so. If you are re-restoring the same firmware version, RedSn0w will check Cydia to see if you have the correct blobs saved.
If RedSn0w is unable to find your blobs automatically you can try to click the Remote button to try again or you can click the Local button to search for blobs on your computer.
Step Nine RedSn0w will place your device into recovery mode.
You may be asked to acknowledge that this procedure will update your Baseband. Click Yes to continue or No to stop.
RedSn0w will now restore your device.
Step Ten You'll be informed when your restore has completed successfully.

Ipad 2. Able to save shah file using tiny umbrella but in version 6.1. Followed above procedure to restore 6.1 ipsw. All went ok - then, error - Couldn't Restore Invalid ramdisk....I updated once the iOS using OTA, will that be the cause? If yes, any idea how this can be fixed? :-(( Thanks in advance for any expert assistance.
Iphone 4s, upgraded from 5.0 to 5.1.1. Got everything set up and configured, very happy! I did lose all apps during the process bit they synced automatically from iTunes. Had to redo all my folders and all logins, but it was worth it.
Hi, can anyone help?
I want an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1.1 and be able to reinstall it in the future to iOS 5.1.1 (using for example sn0wbreeze).
I want to buy a new iphone 4S that is running iOS 5.1.1 and jailbreak it and be able to reinstall it to 5.1.1 in the future using for example sn0wbreeze.
Can I save SSHS Blobs if it's in the factory orignal state running iOS 5.1.1 ?
I just wanted make sure I understand this. I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1.1. I can actually do a restore and keep my iOS 5.1.1 on my 4S, all with out using iTunes and upgrading to iOS 6.0 by using the latest Redsnow. This is something I've wanted to do and did not know it was possible. Please let me know if this is correct, because if it is I am doing it. Thanks!
I've got an iPad 2 Wifi with 5.1.1 jailbroken.
I cannot upgrade to iOS 6 nor can I downgrade to 5.0.1.
I used iTunes, Absinthe and latest redsn0w. Non worked. I got errors on Itunes 1602, 1604, 3194, 21.
I got the message with the APticket flashed on redsn0w using firmware 5.1.1. to restore.
I've got SHSH 5.1.1 on my PC.
What can I do? I want to upgrade to iOS 6.
My iPhone 4gs (5.1.1) crashed and it is keeping in safe mode. I try to solve the problem by removing every thing I had installed from Cydia, still same problem.
I try to restore as a last resort ( I have saved SHSH via Tinyumbrella ) did not work also . Then I used the latest Redsn0w (redsn0w_mac_0.9.15b3) all goes OK until the final stage got a message " that my device got updated via OTA update which is not supported".
So what is the use of saving SHSH if it dose not work???
is there any way to restore my device back in the same FW??
I have a BIG doubt !!
I have a jailbroken iPhone 4S with iOS 5.1.1 + Gevey Sim (v. 1.62)
I want to make a restore from 5.1.1 to a fresh 5.1.1 to eliminate some issues.
THE DOUBT: if I make that restore the baseband will update to iOS 6' s baseband (3.0.04) or will keep the 2.0.12 baseband?
the gevey ultra sim able unlock all baseband on iphone 4S even 3.0.04
ultra gevey s suported of this baseband on 5.1/5.11/6.0 :
1.0.14
2.0.10
2.0.12
3.0.04
Thanks for the answer! I was reading the DEV-TEAM BLOG and a guy explains that he did this restore on an iPhone 4S and the baseband updates to 3.0.04 (iOS 6). My version of Gevey (v 1.62) only works until baseband 2.0.12. The new version of Gevey (v 2.0) is ready to unlock the 3.0.04 baseband so I guess that I will buy the new Gevey, make my restore and wait for the untethered jailbreak for iOS6 …!
I have an iphone 4s on 5.0 (9A334) but DON'T have the 5.0 SHSH blobs saved. I want to upgrade to 5.1.1 (so that I can use the new BBC iPlayer app which lets you download content) and DO have the 5.1.1 SHSH blobs saved. Is there any way to do this? I have googled for hours with no joy. Think maybe the Stitching feature of Redsn0w might be what I'm after but don't want to risk having to restore to 6.0.
Thanks
If you do not save at the 5.1.1 shsh blobs , can not update to 5.1.1.
If you have not had the update to 5.1.1, then you can not save shsh blobs on 5.1.1
Hi! i have a problem when i try to reinstall ios 5.1.1 in my ipad 3,
i have a error because my firmware is installed in the factory. but all newipad's have a firmware installed in the factory..
Then the last version of redsnow for reinstall the ios 5.1.1 is not compatible with ipad 3?? now i have my ipad dead and i don't want install ios 6 please help me!!!
thanks for your help guys!!!
Hi Mohammad0000!
Yes, i have shsh saved in my computer, but when i try use redsnow the program show me the next message:
"it seems the APTicket flashed on the device cannot be re-used for this hack.
if the current firmware was installed via OTA update or at the factory, its APTicket contains the wrong data for this to work".
If i'm not wrong all ipad's 3 come with ios 5.1.1 from factory then the question is: is not posible do the restore in ipad 3? and you know if the solution come soon??
Thanks for your help!!
Even using remote blobs instead of local ones it did also not work on my Ipad 3.
I have tried to restore from backup and it fail again.
I need to restore my Ipad 3, and Apple jailed me enabling only to un upgrade.
Besides devaluating my device in 7 months by discontinuing it.
I do not intend to buy any device, smartphone/tablet/etc, with OTA update feature, because the device is mine and not from the manufacturer!
I have an iPhone 4, I had to upgrade the power supply was disconnected.
Update the iPhone again, I realized, base-band , Wi-Fi , IMEI , and Bluetooth, it is not.
I Again did upgrade to 6 and see it is not Bysband and IMEI.
Can you advise me what to do?
sory , i can not speak english very well.
Thanks, and thank you.

i get an error after uploading ramdisk, saying "Could not restore, service wouldn't start" and the iphone frozes at the Apple Logo and the loading bar at the bottom, any ideas why this happens ?
solved. did a second restore and worked smoothly ;) if anyone meets this issue restoring from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 just do a second restore, using just 5.1.1 firmware, as redsn0w will state you already are on it, and will solve the problem.
Ok. That problem seems to solve itself - iTunes is now installing all my apps. I didn't do anything other than leave the iphone plugged in.
However, Cydia is gone. How do I get that back?
which device were you on and what version were you on? I have an ipad3 and i'm receiving the apticket error when I try redsnow extras|even more|Restore|IPSW (local and remote).
Not working for me.
I'm trying to reinstall 5.1.1 firmware that I already currently have. I have an annoying glitch after installing fullforce that I hope by re-jailbreaking 5.1.1 will eliminate that glitch.
