Employee Promised Job Security By Steve Jobs Sues Apple After Being Fired

An Apple employee who says he was promised job security by Steve Jobs, is suing Apple after being fired, allegedly without cause, reports Bloomberg.

Wayne Goodrich, who says he was a confidant, sounding board and close adviser to Apple Inc. co- founder Steve Jobs, sued the iPhone maker claiming he was fired for no legitimate reason despite Jobs's promise of job security. Goodrich said he was fired in December for what Apple said were "business reasons" not connected to his performance, according to a complaint filed Aug. 17 in California state court in San Jose.

Goodrich started working at Apple in 1998 and says that at a one-on-one meeting in May 2005 Jobs told him he would always have a position at the company.


"This express promise by Steve Jobs was consistent with a practice that Steve Jobs had, acting on behalf of defendant Apple, of promising job security to certain key employees who worked directly with him for many years," Goodrich said in the complaint.

Goodrich was the executive producer of Apple's public presentations and worked with Jobs to prepare events and develop presentations for all new products. He was also responsible for introducing Apple to Siri and was the first Apple employee to meet with the company before its acquisition.
