Smaller 19-Pin Dock Connector Confirmed for the Next iPhone?

Posted June 21, 2012 at 1:49am by iClarified
Apple is confirmed to be replacing the current 30-pin port on the iPhone with a new smaller 19-pin port, according to TechCrunch.

The new port, partially shown in this Mobilefun post as well as in this video, is similar in size to the Thunderbolt port available on many MacBook devices but I've been told by three independent manufacturers that the pin-out will be different.

This smaller connector has been reported by several other sources and purported parts for the next generation device have also shown a smaller opening for the port.

Three independent manufacturers all agreed that the 19-pin dock port is in the works and many accessory manufacturers are facing an uneasy few months as they wait for official news of the standard to be announced.

If they really replace current dock, I need to say bye bye iPhone 5. All adaptors, chargers I have are for my iPhone 4S and iPad 3, so I need to think about to buz one iPhone 4S more to have after the first one stop to work, to have replacement. Absolutely i will not buz iPhone 5 :(

Why not some kind of MagSafe connector?

I think it looks nice so far. Hopefully they have some sort of adapter that comes with the iphone but I doubt it'll come with. Looks like the speakers could be much improved which I've been hoping they'd do. People saying it's too big... it's only just barely larger than the previous. I like they didn't go too large. Will be interesting to see this and the windows phone.

I knew those 3D rendered pics of the iPhone where bunch of BS. They where too real to be a rendered image. Someone has a prototype out there and couldn't wait to show it off. Nice try on claiming that they were rendered pics. Can't wait any longer.

Just because this guy has a component in his hand means it's from the actual iPhone 5? Come on now. Can you say "Chinese knock-off?" Not saying it is or it isn't but for you to jump straight to conclusions is kinda ridiculous.

Sounds just like what everyone said last year after all the prototypes and cases came out yet all we got was a 4S. Everyone was so positive we'd have this widescreen wedge shaped design that never made it off the foxconn scrap floor. I'd wait to see what Tim unveils on stage before gettin hyped about anything.
