i've been having some issues with the new 3.0 software, i couldnt update it and was presented with a message saying that the iPhone Update server was unavailable or something like that, then after probably 4 hours after i recieved that message, i tried to update again and as i was updating to 3.0 my iPhone suddenly disappeared from iTunes, and was presented with a message and an error code (9). then my iphone started to restore itself but it failed and then it restored correctly and tried to update itself, but then it when to restore mode again. im very upset and disappointed, somebody please help me

The 3.0 download through iTunes is the exact same build number (7A341) as the 3.0 GM that most people have been using already so don't do a restore unless you just want to waste time. You won't gain anything from it until they come out with a 3.01 or something.

Sound like maybe you are not using AT&T? The unlock will be out from the Dev Team on Friday.

I've got a factory-unlocked 16-gig 3G, so this pre-jailbreak update looks like fun although I can't wait to see some new Cydia features :)

No Push notifications in settings? hmmmmmm......
Buddy
Buddy - June 17, 2009 at 1:36pm
I noticed in my 3.0 GM that the "Notifications" section in my Settings didn't appear until I installed an app that had the option. In this case TapTap Revenge 2 which is a free download from the app store. So I guess it's hidden until needed the first time.

Push shows up after a app that uses that feature is installed, mine didnt show until after installing the new update for tap tap revenge 2

Buddy - June 17, 2009 at 1:30pm
Yeah I am getting that too with my 3.0 GM. I'm hoping it's just cause it's not released in the Eastern time zone yet but I doubt it. Maybe i'll have to do a normal restore.

Yemi - June 17, 2009 at 1:30pm
The GM build is the same exact one as the 3.0 released today so u're fine
Cody
Cody - June 17, 2009 at 1:31pm
well i'm in the same time zone as cupertino so...looks like we're screwed. iclarified, post a link to the firmware!
Cody
Cody - June 17, 2009 at 1:32pm
you don't think they would have worked out any last bugs between last week and now? i've found a few...
Yemi
Yemi - June 17, 2009 at 1:38pm
I dont think so. There were lots of 3gs phones pre-ordered and shipped with 3.0 firmware already. I personally think the bugs will be fixed in 3.01. You should know how apple is already
Buddy
Buddy - June 17, 2009 at 1:40pm
Cody, If you click the Restore button it will contact the server and present you with a 3.0 Update window... you can cancel from there. I'm going to restore to see if the build number for 3.0GM (7A341) changes. Unless someone can tell us first if it does.
Cody
Cody - June 17, 2009 at 1:41pm
yeah i guess you're right...well somebody post the firmware anyway, if only for my peace of mind.
Cody
Cody - June 17, 2009 at 1:43pm
nice! aw, but i tried and all i get is the restore option... maybe if i delete my old firmwares...
Buddy
Buddy - June 17, 2009 at 1:45pm
Right, i'm doing the restore. It's hella slow to download though - I wonder why..haha
Buddy
Buddy - June 17, 2009 at 1:48pm
According to the download link from the other guy the build number is the same so I wouldn't go through a restore since it won't be any different.
