De afbeeldingen die per ongeluk in iBooks 1.1 en 1.2 zijn achtergebleven duiden er op dat de schermresolutie van de iPad 2 dubbel zo groot zal zijn als die van de huidige iPad, aldus MacRumors.

Versie 1.1 van Apple's iBooks app lijkt per ongeluk wat artwork van een iPad met dubbel zo groot scherm te bevatten. Zoals hierboven te zien is bevat de iBook app het bladwijzer icoon in verschillende maten, voor de iPad, iPhone,iPhone Retina Display (iPhonex2). Daarnaast bevat het icoon-bestand ook een extra versie "iPadx2" genaamd . Die is precies het dubbele formaat van de normale iPad resolutie. De meest logische verklaring hiervoor is dat Apple met een iPad komt die een dubbel zo hoge resolutie komt . Apple heeft inmiddels het artwork uit de nieuwere versie van de iBooks app gehaald.

De huidige iPad heeft een resolutie van 1024x768, als je die resolutie zou verdubbelen kom je uit op 2048x1536 met 260 DPI.

Een recent Engadget artikel voorspelt een "super hoge resolutie" iPad 2.

Exectly, its going to be in expense of battery life and speed.

Nice! I suppose 260dpi, being below 300dpi, the self-imposed "retina standard" of Steve Jobs at the introduction of iPhone 4 technically falls 40dpi short. lol That's plenty close enough for me, though, and obviously, they will likely keep the LED-backed IPS LCD technology and with that, my own personal appetite for super hi-resolution, high-quality displays will have been met, and then some. :-D Can we do the iMac next? 5120x2880 at 27"? Please?
