I'm on a Mac. I just started the jailbreak (doing everything you said about passcodes and vpn's) and I'm hanging at the beginning: "Beginning jailbreak, this may take a while..." Any thoughts why it might hang here (in excess of 10 minutes)? I can unhook my phone and it will restart the process saying "you attempted to jailbreak and failed... recovering files." Then it lets me try again, but so far it does the same thing every time! The video goes so fast! What's the deal?

What version of iOS U have? check the cable , make a backup of your data , and jailbreak the device clean, after that restore all your information. upgrade to 5.0.1 if u can, but remember the iPHONE has to be like new, I mean the structure of files should be the same as factory. good luck!

What, you mean like no data on it? If that's the case why is that not included in the tutorial? I have a lot of apps and media. I doubt I have to restore first. You're the first to say that. Btw, I'm def 5.0.1 and have tried 2 cables and 3 USB ports.

People are telling me that if it's not working, restore my phone THEN jailbreak.. That seems a little extreme to me. I thought the whole point is that it installs "as is" on your phone. Looking around for a more official thread from somebody who has solved this problem. Having to restore back to a new phone state and reinstall every app is a bit of a deal breaker for me.

I'm using a VMWare version of the MacOs and everything goes well until the reboot. Absinthe program never detects that my phone has bee reboted :(
