Geohotz vuelve a la carga y parece que ya ha encontrado un método para hacer el jailbreak al iPhone 3Gs.

Todavía estamos averiguando los detalles del exploit empleado. No obstante, parece que GeoHotz ha sido capaz de insertar una instrucción a medida en el iBoot, lo que significaría que se ha saltado las comprobaciones de firma (gracias, mav). Éste podría ser el comienzo para el jailbreak del iPhone 3Gs (N88AP), que ha sido llamado purplera1n.

GeoHotz ya ha activado purplera1n.com, pero por ahora no almacena nada más que una imagen.

Las buenas noticias son que si el jailbreak funciona, UltraSn0w
The really good news is that if the jailbreak is successful the UltraSn0w unlock debería ser también compatible con el iPhone 3Gs.

:) . He tried to pull some of the data in the "image" out. IT seem like we can use iboot again. So, some of the good new is that......you guys will able to overclock your iphone 3gs to it true power (600mhz to 800 mhz).Once again, nicely done Geohot. It seem like the old way always work no matter what.....:)

This news makes my day! I've been checking like every hour for news on this since Friday. I'm going crazy waiting for a jailbreak for my 3G S. Seriously, without it, I think I would downgrade back to my old 3G. You rock GeoHot!!!

Guys ... i have a question ? if i buy a new iphone from o2 ireland .. not with contract " pay monthly " . is it unloack one and works with any sim like mine in libya .. or it just work with o2 .. thanks

I would say it's locked to O2. If it's a 3G, you can unlock with software. If it's 3GS, you're out of luck. Your only hope is to wait for jailbreak or buy a turbosim (rebel) that works with 3.0.

Hi, in case some of you want some clarification on the image, from my understanding, he managed to execute the echo command on the phone, which means the next command (in simple terms) could be install Custom Firmware, obv its more complicated then this, but thats just to get an idea.
