The New York Times le ha agregado peso a los rumores del Wall Street Journal y Bloomberg, reportando que Apple anunciará un iPad mini este año.

La compañía está desarrollando esta tableta nueva con una pantalla de 7.85 pulgadas (19.94 cm) que probablemente se comercializará por un precio menor a los $499 USD que cuesta la más reciente iPad que cuenta con una pantalla de 9.7 pulgadas (24.6 cm) según varias personas con conocimiento del proyecto quienes se negaron a ser mencionadas comentando planes confidenciales. Este producto esta anticipado para ser anunciado este año.

The New York Times también cita a Horace Dediu, un analista independiente que sugiere la posibilidad de que Apple comercialicé este nuevo dispositivo como un iPod touch mas grande en vez de un mini iPad.

Apple se rehusa a comentar al respecto.

I hope This ones comes with The phone capability from factory, I am still using my IPad 1 because I have PhoneitIpad from IPhone Islam, and I will not change it until I have phone capability in any other IPad, I have my IPhone, but, using the iPad as a phone is just a great tool. Beside the lack of Bluetooth support. Just connect it to the aux plug in in the car and I play music, have the phone, gps and Internet.... Why apple just not free this option? All the iPads 3g's are able to works as a phone, just need the software....

Is there a reason why don't you just another service to make phone calls and text messages? What are the advantages of paying for a cell line and have it in an iPad vs an iPhone or any other phone? her up.Just t

Given the NYT's track record on reporting facts correctly, I can only conclude that there is now no possibility whatsoever of the iPad Mini coming to fruition.
