Apple continues to work on solid state haptic buttons for future iPhones, according to a recent post by leaker Instant Digital on Weibo. The project, reportedly known internally as 'Bongo', faced delays previously and did not launch with the iPhone 15 as some rumors initially suggested.

The leaker claims that production costs are not the main thing holding back the technology's implementation. Instead, the current primary challenges are preventing accidental button activations and achieving perfectly consistent responsiveness.

Apple is reportedly focused on refining the haptic feedback design to mimic the feel of traditional physical buttons. Ensuring long-term reliability and maintaining a uniform experience across all mass-produced devices are also key development goals. The project will apparently remain paused until these technical challenges are fully resolved.
