Apple has released a new firmware update for its AirPods Max (Lightning) headphones.
The firmware version is 6F25, up from 6F21, released in October 2024. Unfortunately, Apple rarely discloses what is new in minor firmware updates for AirPods. The 6F21 changelog simply read, "Bug fixes and other improvements".
Notably, the firmware update does not apply to AirPods Max (USB-C) which are currently at version 7A291.
You can use your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to find your AirPods firmware version...
Find your AirPods firmware version on your iPhone or iPad To use your iPhone or iPad to check that your AirPods are up to date, make sure that you have the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.
