Apple will soon select a supplier to provide the company with foldable display panels, according to a new rumor from yeux1122. The decision is expected between late February and early April.
Apple is still adhering to technical requirements that maintain the thickness, size, and hardness R value of existing foldable display panels while further improving resistance to external impacts and crease protection. However, some domestic component suppliers have nearly met Apple's required standards.
Recent reports suggest that Apple is working on a foldable iPhone design that could be unveiled as early as 2026. When unfolded, the device would feature a display larger than the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Sources indicate that the company now favors an inward-folding design rather than one with the display on the outside when folded.
Additionally, Apple is said to be developing a large foldable device with an approximately 19-inch display. This device has been described as a giant iPad that unfolds into the size of two iPad Pros.
Both foldable designs have been in development for years, but they have reportedly faced major challenges, including improving the hinge—a mechanism that allows the device to fold and unfold—and the display cover, a flexible material protecting the foldable screen.
