HomePod With Display Delayed Until After WWDC 2025 [Kuo]

Apple's rumored HomePod with display has allegedly been delayed until after WWDC 2025, according to a new report from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The mass production schedule for the display-equipped HomePod has been delayed multiple times. Initially forecasted for 2024 (as I predicted in 2023), it was postponed to 1Q25, and more recently, further delayed to after WWDC 2025/3Q25.

Kuo says the delay is primarily due to software development, not hardware. The device is expected to feature an A18 processor, 6 to 7-inch display, and support for Apple Intelligence. A


Compared to the current HomePod lineup, the display-equipped HomePod will emphasize smart home functionalities more. It can be seen as Apple's strategic repositioning of the HomePod product line. Apple has a history of successfully repositioning existing products.

In addition to the display-equipped HomePod, Kuo believes that Apple will launch a smart home IP camera in 2026. These two products are expected to be tightly integrated to provide a seamless smart home experience. Patents suggest that Apple is exploring ways to identify users in the smart home space, and Kuo says the solution could be as significant as Face ID and Touch ID are for mobile devices.

The display-equipped HomePod is expected to ship around 500,000 units in 2H25 and annual sales could reach the million-unit level if market response is good. In terms of design, reporter Mark Gurman is predicting that the smart home screen will feature an old school iMac-like base and have a square display.
