Apple Allegedly Forced to Compromise on 'iPhone 17 Air' Thickness and Battery [Rumor]

Apple has allegedly been forced to make compromises on both the thickness and battery capacity of the rumored iPhone 17 Air, according to a new report from yeux1122.

In a post on Naver, the leaker claims both Apple and Samsung are struggling in their efforts to produce thinner circuit boards.

Due to delays in mass production of circuit boards with new materials and techniques, efforts to increase battery capacity by making the boards thinner have been thwarted. Companies are leaning toward a compromise, sacrificing certain aspects to ensure release

Thus, it's predicted that the iPhone 17 Air will have a thickness around 6mm. This compares to 5.1mm for the iPad Pro and 8.25mm for the iPhone 16 Pro.

---
• Like Samsung, Apple will not have access to the new internal board supply next year. The core issue is the cost of supply.
• The current trend favors using a cell based on existing methods rather than a newly modified battery product. This choice is influenced by supply volume and stability concerns.
• Although it was initially expected that new boards would allow for a thinner design and more battery capacity, the failure to adopt these new materials suggests that the slim model may only be around 6mm thick, with limited battery capacity improvements anticipated.

Also referred to as the iPhone 17 Slim, the next generation device will allegedly feature a 6.6-inch display. That would make it slightly larger than the 6.1-inch iPhone 17 and 6.3-inch iPhone 17 Pro, but slightly smaller than the 6.9-inch iPhone 17 Pro Max. It's also rumored to have an A19 N3P chip, 8GB of LPDD5 RAM, a 24MP 6P FaceTime camera, and a single 48MP 7P rear camera.
