New M4 Mac mini Teardown and Storage Upgrade! [Video]

Watch this teardown of the new M4 Mac mini, revealing that, unlike previous models, the storage isn't soldered to the logic board but is instead on a removable PCB. Using some advanced soldering skills, dosdude1 demonstrates an upgrade of the NAND chips on the PCB.
In this video, I unbox, completely disassemble, and upgrade the storage on a brand new M4 Mac mini. This machine having only been out for a day at the time I filmed this video, I was expecting the storage to be soldered to the logic board like previous Apple Silicon Mac mini models. However, to my surprise, the storage ended up actually being located on remove NAND module PCBs, similar to the Mac Studio! Unlike the Mac Studio, though, the standard M4 Mac mini only supports up to two NANDs, making its max storage configuration 2TB. In this instance, the 1TB NAND chips I had on-hand had issues, so I had to settle with two 512GB chips, achieving a total storage configuration of 1TB.
