Apple Ramps Up Testing of Four New M4 Macs [Report]

Apple has ramped up testing of four new Mac models ahead of the company's transition to its new M4 chip, reports Bloomberg.

The company is also planning to begin transitioning its Macs over to M4 processors later this year, but Mac updates typically don't arrive until about a month after the annual iPhone launch. To that end, the company has ramped up testing of four new Mac models to ensure compatibility with third-party applications, according to developer test logs seen by Bloomberg News. That's a key step prior to launching the new machines.

According to the site, the models spotted in developer logs were labeled with identifiers "16,1," "16,2," "16,3" and "16,10." They are said to represent models with the base-level version of the M4 chip. Three of the Macs in testing have ten total processing cores and ten graphics cores. The other model has eight processing cores and eight graphics cores. The 10-core version is split between four high-performance cores and six high-efficiency cores. The 8-core version is split between four high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores. All four models have either 16GB or 32GB of RAM.
