Apple is rumored to have significant camera upgrades in store for its upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models, according to a post on Weibo.
User 'Baby Sauce' claims that both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will get upgraded from 12MP ultra wide cameras to a new 48MP ultra wide camera. This higher resolution will match that of the main camera which is also at 48MP.
The telephoto lens of the iPhone 16 Pro is also said to get an upgrade, moving to a 5X optical zoom lens. That matches the current capability of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Finally, Apple will allegedly upgrade the iPhone 16 Pro Max to a Sony IMX903 image sensor from the current IMX803 sensor. The IMX903 is a high-end image sensor featuring a sensor size of 1/1.14 inches and pixels that are 1.4 micrometers in size. Compare that to a pixel size of 1.22 micrometers for the IMX803.
Sony's IMX903 also supports 4K high frame rate video recording, Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), and Dolby Vision for improved contrast and color in video content.
While this report is unverified, it does match earlier predictions from known leakers such as Ming-Chi Kuo.
Apple is expected to unveil its new iPhone 16 lineup later this year. Please download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS for more leaks ahead of release!
